KEVIN Bond looks set to conduct a pre-match roll call ahead of Cherries' League One clash against Millwall today - with strikers Sam Vokes and Jo Kuffour both doubts.
Teenager Vokes returned from international duty nursing a sore knee, while Kuffour has this week been given compassionate leave to spend time with his stricken mother.
Vokes yesterday arrived back in England after helping Wales record a 2-1 victory against Bosnia in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier on Wednesday.
And while Bond expects both him and Kuffour to report for duty ahead of kick-off, their respective fitness levels are likely to be assessed before he names his starting line-up.
Fit-again Brett Pitman and Josh McQuoid are on standby to deputise, while rookie youth team striker Steve Hutchings could give Bond another option.
Speaking to the Daily Echo yesterday, Bond said: "I don't know whether Sam took a whack or not but he came back yesterday afternoon and was absolutely shattered. I think the game and the travelling caught up with him and he also felt a problem with his knee.
"I haven't seen Jo since the Easter Monday game. He has been by his mother's bedside in a hospital in London all week and hasn't been able to leave her. I won't see him until tomorrow at the earliest. He's done nothing on the training pitch all week because he's been spending time with his mother who is very poorly.
"If Jo's okay, which we hope he will be, his lack of preparation will go against him.
"But if he says he's okay to play, I would probably run with him, even though he might not be as well prepared as we would like.
"But if Sam is 100 per cent fit and Jo isn't, then I might have to look at it and vice-versa. We will see how they are tomorrow and take it from there."
Bond is also sweating on the fitness of defender Warren Cummings, although Josh Gowling should be in contention for a return against the Lions at Dean Court (3pm).
Cummings has recovered from a persistent shin problem but was yesterday due to see a chiropractor after being troubled by neck and back pain. His fitness will also be assessed ahead of kick-off.
Bond successfully completed the signing of goalkeeper David Forde ahead of Thursday's loan transfer deadline. The Cardiff City stopper will remain at Dean Court until the end of the season.
However, Forde, who had been penning seven-day emergency deals after the Football League agreed to relax Cherries' transfer embargo, could still return to Cardiff at short notice.
Bond said: "We've taken David on loan until the end of season and Cardiff do have a 24-hour recall clause. But I spoke to Dave Jones (Cardiff manager) and I don't envisage that happening unless there is a major catastrophe.
"I don't think they would have let him come here in the first place if they thought they might need him so we should have him for the remainder of the season, which is good news for us."
Meanwhile, defenders Neil Young and Ryan Garry could both hit the comeback trail when Cherries reserves host Plymouth at Dean Court on Tuesday (2pm).
