LEE James failed to stake a share of this weekend's prize-money despite a much-improved second day at the Andalucian Open.
The Parkstone-based player shaved five shots off his first day score with a one-under-par 71 at Aloha today.
But his three-over-par total was three shots off the qualifying mark and 11 shots behind joint leaders Peter Hedblom and New Zealander Matt Miller.
James was level par through the front nine after a birdie three at the second was offset by a bogey at the ninth.
Consecutive birdies at the 11th and 12th gave him hope before dropping back to level par with bogeys at the 14th and 15th. He moved into red figures with a birdie four at the next hole.
James's next port of call is Lisbon for the Portuguese Open (April 3-6).
