RINGWOOD are still clinging on to the belief they can avoid the drop after Dan Taylor's equaliser stretched their unbeaten run to three games.

Jy Taylor's outfit are second bottom, seven points behind Alresford, but if only two teams go down and they can make up that deficit, they would be safe.

Ringwood boss Jy said: "The pressure is off us really because no-one is expecting us to stay up.

"But until it is mathematically impossible not to get to third bottom we will keep trying.

"Hopefully only two go down and we can catch Alresford."

Jamie Hookway gave Romsey the lead but Dan Taylor levelled midway through the first half.

Dan then hit the bar twice, with Mark Burrett also smacking the woodwork and Matt Greaves having a superb effort tipped onto the bar.

With Terry Bellott pulling the strings for Ringwood, "we were disappointed not to have won," said Jy.

"It was one of those days when the ball wouldn't go into the back of the net more than once."

Ringwood, who visit vt fc tomorrow, will be without midfielder Dave Sajic for the rest of the season.

"He popped a couple of ribs and slipped a disc after inadvertently getting a knee in the back," said Jy.

Ringwood: Rhodes, Greaves (Yeats 70), Leadbitter (Russon 70), Wright, Brunnen, Burrett, Bellott, Sajic (Carroll 30), Gogan, Baguley, D Taylor. Unused sub: J Taylor.
