SIX Verwood players got on the scoresheet as they rattled up their biggest win of the season.
Pete King (two), Paul Arnold, Dan Goodall, Chris Lynch, Matt Newbury and Russell Dyer hit the target as it was almost all one-way traffic.
Leading 3-0 at the break, Verwood cruised to victory to reinforce their fourth placed spot in the Division One table.
Verwood manager Adie Arnold said: "It was about time we gave someone a hiding. We played some good football at times and it was a reasonable performance.
"We were 3-0 up at half time and what was pleasing was we went out and really killed Portchester off in the second half.
"It was good for the goal difference and that six different players scored. It should give our confidence a big boost."
The boss added: "It was our biggest win of the season after we beat Whitchurch 6-2 at the beginning of the campaign.
"It is a nice time to produce. We are still looking at third and catching Farnborough North End.
"We also needed the three points to keep a gap between the teams coming up behind us.
"It was nice to bounce back from our 2-1 defeat against Totton and Eling because it is down to us to hang on to fourth spot."
Verwood: Willis, Elysee, Lynch, Martin Newbury (Giles 75), Homer, Dyer, Faulkner, P Arnold (Yerby 70), Matt Newbury, King, Goodall (Reeves 65). Unused sub: Beverley.
