OAKMEADIANS' hopes of a Southern Counties South play-off berth appear to be over after Saturday's 35-10 defeat at Oldfield Old Boys.
With two games remaining, Oaks are now five points adrift of second-placed Wootton Bassett and with a home clash against Devizes and a trip to Dorchester remaining for Hayden Hokianga's troops, it now looks like another frustrating season away from South West Two East for the Meyrick Park side.
Flanker Tim Flower, who bagged Oaks first try before skipper Hokianga piled over for a second, said: "We were refereed out of the game in my opinion.
"We play quite tight rugby, lots of catch-and-drives, and he just let them pull the mauls down and come in at the side so there was nothing we could do.
"We struggled to build a platform and it was cold and wet, blowing a gale, and I think our minds were really on next weekend's cup final rather than the league, which we were really out of anyway I think."
Oaks now turn their attentions to this weekend's Dorset and Wiltshire Vase final against Trowbridge.
Oaks: Riley, M Stephenson, Blackburn, Stradwick, Hennings, Ivory, Flower, Hokianga, Harman, Tryska, Parker, Tait, Osborne, Drummond, Harvey.
