NATHAN Ablitt thanked Pirates’ fans for their “patience” during his inaugural season with the club and insisted: “As long as they want me, I’ll be here.”

The youngster was brought in by the Poole promotion at the start of the 2022 campaign, with promoter Danny Ford insisting he would be a “long-term project”.

The 18-year-old was part of the Pirates side to seal the Knockout Cup against Redcar last week and could help them to the SGB Championship play-off title, starting with Friday’s home first leg against Leicester (7.30pm).

Ablitt told the Daily Echo: “The patience the club, promotion and fans have had with me is something I appreciate and I want to pay it back to them in one, two, three years’ time when I have continued growing as a rider.

“When I can show them what their patience deserved, that’s what I want to do.

“As long as they want me, I’ll be here.”
