CHERRIES Women have had their place in the first round proper of the FA Cup confirmed following the abandonment of their third round qualifying tie with Forest Green Rovers.
Heading into the final 10 minutes of the contest, Steve Cuss’ side were leading 5-1, courtesy of goals from Lucy Cooper, Holly Humphreys, Katie James and Helen Bleazard, with a fifth via a Forest Green own goal.
The storm conditions over the weekend impacted the game itself, with the referee eventually deciding to bring both teams back into the dressing room after 80 minutes played.
Shortly after, the game had been called off, with the FA subsequently deciding that enough of the encounter had been played to allow Cherries to progress into the next round of the competition.
Cherries will now face divisional rivals Exeter City, the Dorset club travelling to neighbouring Devon on Sunday, November 13 (kick-off and venue to be confirmed).
