MARCUS Tavernier joked that the break for the World Cup has come at the “worst time” – with the midfielder in fine form in the final third.

Despite impressing in his first appearances in red and black at the start of the season, Tavernier did not produce a goal involvement in his first 12 Premier League appearances.

Since grabbing a first assist in the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in October, the former Middlesbrough man has become a frequent provider, opening his tally for Cherries in the defeat away at Leeds United last weekend.

He set up the other two goals of the 4-3 loss, before again scoring and assisting in Cherries’ 3-0 win over Everton on this afternoon.

The 23-year-old arrived to poke home the opener before seeing his header nodded home by Kieffer Moore in the first-half, before Jaidon Anthony made sure of the result in the second period.

Speaking after the game, Tavernier told the Daily Echo: “I’ve really hit form at the moment - it's probably at the worst time, in a way, now we've got a break.

“But I'm just happy that I'm contributing to the team and can't thank them enough for showing me the support.

“It's helping me and my game and it's now showing on the game.”

Critical about his performances prior to breaking his duct, Tavernier was again looking to where he could improve further.

He added: “I feel like me myself, I could have got another goal and assist.

“That’s something to look back on but right now, all that we can do is be happy about the performance and the three points on the board.

Asked what was the contributing factor to adding assists and goals to his game, Tavernier revealed: “It's definitely hard work.

“I've been working hard on the training pitch, in the final third and working on that end product.

“Finally seeing that now on the pitch, and hopefully that can continue.”
