DANNY Ford insisted “everyone is aware of what’s going to happen” at British speedway’s Annual General Meeting and said: “I don’t anticipate any spanners will be thrown in the works.”
Ford, along with fellow league chiefs, is tomorrow set to sign off on agreed points limits and rule alterations ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Pirates are set to remain in the second tier, despite winning a league and cup double for the second year in a row.
The Wimborne Road outfit overcame Redcar over two legs to secure cup honours, as well as beating Leicester in the league play-off finale earlier this month.
British speedway have already announced Championship teams will meet each other home and away twice in the regular league programme in 2023, giving a 32-match schedule – an increase on recent years.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Ford told the Daily Echo: “At this stage, the AGM should be just signing off the past year and confirming on what we have really already planned out for this coming season.
“We all know where we are at now really. The points limit has been agreed in principle, it just needs to be signed off at the AGM.
“We know the rule changes. Everyone is aware of what’s going to happen. It’s just a case of signing that off and making everyone else and the public aware.
“I don’t anticipate any spanners will be thrown in the works. I think I will be quite straightforward, which is what we like.
“Everyone could clearly see the issues we had this year with regards to schedules and stuff like that – guest facilities.
“We just need to sign it off and make sure everyone is crystal clear on what we are doing going forward.”
Nine clubs are set to compete in the Championship next season, with Leicester set to make the step up to the SGB Premiership in 2023.
Some clubs have already announced rider signings for next season, with Poole yet to confirm any of their one-to-seven thus far.
