SCOTT Mitchell will not be returning to Alexandra Palace for the PDC World Darts Championship this winter, after being knocked out in the card holder qualifiers.
The Dorset darts player defeated Peter Hudson 6-2 in the last 48, before slipping to a 6-3 loss against Steve Lennon in the last 24.
Defeat in the qualifiers not only denies Mitchell a chance to compete at the World Darts Championship, with Scotty Dog now having to go through qualifying school in order to earn a tour card, as he did in 2021 to earn a spot on the PDC Tour for the first time.
The 52-year-old is currently 71st in the PDC’s order of merit, with his yearly earnings of £58,000 not enough to secure the top 64 placement that guarantees a tour card.
