BURNLEY defender Connor Roberts is hoping to overcome the hurdle of Cherries this Saturday, to set up another battle with a “top side” in round four of the FA Cup.

The Clarets are flying high under new boss Vincent Kompany in the Championship, sitting top of the table having lost just two of their 26 league matches.

Their only other defeat this campaign came at Old Trafford, going down 2-0 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last month.

Since, Burnley have won all three of their league games, making for an intriguing battle with Cherries, who sit 16th in the Premier League table, on the back of four straight losses in all competitions.

Speaking ahead of the trip to the south coast, Welshman Roberts said: "We always want to win every game, our aim is getting through to the next round and then hopefully get another top side to test ourselves against.

“I'm looking forward to it and maybe it gives some of the other lads an opportunity who maybe haven't played as much this year.

"It'll be a tough test, but a different one from when we played United. Hopefully we can carry our confidence and momentum from the last few games into this one."

He added: "Bournemouth play similar to us, they like to have the ball, but it'll be interesting for us to see where we're at.

"When we play against better opposition or teams in the Premier League naturally you have to be better and on your own game.

“Hopefully we can show that we are good enough and touch wood we could be playing them next season.”

Roberts continued: “We need to keep enjoying being out there and enjoying doing what we're doing, exciting the fans and ourselves.

“I don’t think I've played for a team before where I know we have a massive chance of winning every game.”
