CHERRIES will still be without five injured players when Burnley visit in the FA Cup tomorrow.
Vincent Kompany’s Clarets head to Vitality Stadium in fine form, sitting top of the Championship table.
And Cherries boss Gary O’Neil will still be unable to call upon Marcus Tavernier, Neto, David Brooks, Ryan Fredericks and Junior Stanislas due to injury concerns.
“It’s a game that we want to win,” said O’Neil, when asked where he places the FA Cup in terms of priorities this season.
“The squad is in a similar place to what it was before Manchester United. We’ve got a couple of late checks tomorrow on a couple that started. But no additions.
“The longer-term ones are still out, so the squad is in a similar place.
“It’s a game that we want to win against a very good side that are used to winning football matches.
“They’ve had an incredible run in an extremely tough division, so it will be an extremely tough game for us, for sure.
“But one that I’m looking forward to and one that I expect to see a real good performance in.”
Cherries go into the game having lost all four of their matches since the World Cup break, failing to score in defeats against Newcastle United, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
“We need to constantly just keep improving all aspects and the boys are,” said O’Neil.
“They are improving. I think if we look back slightly further and we go back to Anfield, the performance at Anfield (losing 9-0) versus the performance at Old Trafford, there’s huge differences. It’s not even close.
“There are still positives, but it’s a results business. Importantly for me is you see the boys still giving absolutely everything.
“You see the travelling support show their appreciation at the end.
“From where I am, everyone is still together and we’re pushing hard to make sure that every time we turn out on a matchday we give a real good account of ourselves and we’re competitive.”
