DORSET darts thrower Scott Mitchell was unable to secure a return to the PDC pro tour at Qualifying School.
Needing a deep run into the latter stages of the final day of Qualifying School, Mitchell instead fell at the first hurdle.
After finding himself three legs down off the bat against youngster Owen Bates, Scotty Dog battled back in the next three legs, restoring parity by leg six.
However, despite showing resilience to tie the set at 3-3, Mitchell was unable to prevent Bates winning legs seven and eight.
Mitchell proceeded to give himself a fighting chance by pulling the score back to 5-4, but 20-year-old Bates held firm to win leg 10, advancing through to the round of 64.
Scotty Dog finished Q School with four points, ranking him 19th in the order of merit – with the top nine ranked players earning a tour card, as well as the four event winners.
