DORSET darts star Scott Mitchell quickly put PDC Q School disappointment behind him, accepting an invitation to next month’s World Seniors Darts Championship.
Mitchell was looking to win back his Tour Card on the lucrative PDC tour, but could not quite do enough in Milton Keynes.
However, hours after his loss to youngster Owen Bates on Sunday, Mitchell received a call from the World Seniors Darts Tour, inviting him to join the star-studded line-up at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, with the tournament getting underway on February 9.
The inaugural event in 2022 was won by Robert Thornton, who defeated Martin Adams in the final.
Those two are set to compete again, in the tournament specifically for players aged 50 or over, with 52-year-old Mitchell joining the likes of legendary Phil Taylor and fellow former world champions John Part and Glen Durrant in the field.
As well as taking part in the seniors event, Mitchell is also planning to compete on the PDC Challenge Tour, the second tier of competition, with the first event of 2023 coming on Friday.
The overall winner of the Challenge Tour earns a spot at the World Championship at Alexandra Palace in December, as well as a Tour Card for the following year.
