MARCOS Senesi says he is not taking too much time to reflect on his own personal performances at present, insisting: “The result is everything.”

Senesi has impressed during his recent run in the side, voted as Cherries’ fans player of the month for February.

The 25-year-old netted his second goal of the season on Saturday, putting Cherries 2-0 up against league leaders Arsenal.

That followed his strike against Newcastle United last month.

However, centre-back Senesi and his defensive colleagues could not hold out the wave of Gunners pressure for the whole afternoon, eventually losing 3-2 to slip to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Reflecting on the loss, Senesi told BBC Radio Solent: “It is not the best feeling, of course.

“We did a good effort here for more than 90 minutes and at the end they score.

“Of course, it is painful. But heads up and we have to go again.

“I think as a team we did a big effort to defend a good team, that are first in the league.

“I think we did a good job in defence and at the end, we go back to Bournemouth with nothing.”

Discussing his goal, a powerful header from Joe Rothwell’s corner, the Argentina international added: “You score, make it 2-0 and expect to keep that result, or at least get a point or something.

At the end you lose everything, that is painful.

“Of course I am happy with my goal, but it didn’t give anything to us.”

On his own recent performances, Senesi continued: “It’s important for us to get results.

“I don’t think much if I am doing really well in defence or that kind of thing.

“I feel good in the game, but at the end, the result is everything.”

Cherries return to action this weekend, hosting Liverpool, who are pushing hard for a spot in the top four.

Asked what the team can take from the performances in recent defeats, Senesi said: “I think we have to take a look at all the details of the goals we conceded.

“The things we can improve on when we have the ball and when we have to press.

“I think there are a lot of things we have to improve to get a result in these games.

“It is painful, because I think we deserved more. But that is football.

“I think we have to get our heads up and go again.

“It is the only thing we can do, make a good effort during the week, good work and look to Liverpool to get a result at home.”
