RYAN Christie believes Cherries will not rest upon their laurels following victory at Leicester City, stating there is “still so much work to do.”

Scottish international Christie played the full 90 minutes of Cherries’ win at the King Power, Phil Billing’s first-half strike the difference between two relegation rivals.

It was Cherries’ fourth win in eight games, lifting Gary O’Neil’s charges out of the relegation zone with eight games remaining.

Whilst obviously pleased by his side’s performance, Christie was already highlighting room for improvement, sharing how his side could have been a “wee bit more cutthroat.”

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Christie shared: “It was good. I think the first half especially, we were very good and again, if we were just a wee bit more cutthroat, it could have been in at half time, two or three.

But 1-0 is always kind of scary, especially half time.

We know that they were going to come out with a reaction and they did just that and obviously 20 minutes ago, they're going to have to change up a bit and start going a bit more direct.

“So it was tough to maintain the domination of possession, but I thought we dealt with it well.”

Leicester had not kept a clean sheet in 15 previous fixtures, whilst also picking up just one point in the seven games leading up to the clash.

“I think going into the game we were confident,” explained Christie.

“Obviously when you're playing against a team that’s round-about you in the league, you feel like you can have more attacking threats to the game.

“It's a game we're desperate to come away with three points on the road as well.

“We've managed to do that. Not going to get ahead of ourselves. There's so many games in April and still so much work to do, but the old cliche, game by game, go to Tottenham again next week, and bring that kind of confidence again.

“I think right now, obviously we're just trying to focus on ourselves. I think it's easy for a lot of people to write us off, but we certainly don't have that feeling inside. (Leicester) is a perfect example.

“We're feeling that we can come here and dominate the ball and bring our positives to the game. I think we did that in the most part.

“But the mindset within, even with the new owners, everybody is desperate, to first and foremost stay in the league and then really push and see how far we can get.”
