ANTOINE Semenyo’s season is over after undergoing surgery on a shin injury.
The striker, who has scored once in 11 appearances since joining Cherries in January, is set to return in pre-season.
Asked for an update on the fitness of the 23-year-old, boss Gary O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “Antoine’s had surgery, so he’ll be out until next season.
“We’re hopeful that he gets back and can have a decent little spell with the team before the season starts, but it will depend on how quickly he recovers.
“It’s a shin injury that needed some surgery. He’s all done, everything has gone well and hopefully he has a real speedy recovery, because he can be a big help again for us next season.”
Asked if Semenyo picked up the injury in training, O’Neil added: “It’s a complicated one. I think it’s been ongoing for a little while.
“Obviously the fact we got to 39 points and that he was managing to get through stuff for us, as he was.
“It’s important that we took the extra time that we had to try and get him ready for as early next season as we can.”
