CHRISTIAN Saydee has left Cherries permanently to join League One Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.

Cherries had recently exercised a clause in Saydee’s contract to extend it by a further year, allowing the club to earn a fee from their south coast neighbours.

Eligible to play for Liberia internationally, Saydee previously trialled with Pompey last summer ahead of a potential loan move.

Instead, Saydee temporarily played for Pompey’s League One rivals Shrewsbury, scoring seven times in 35 appearances in the third tier.

After joining Cherries’ academy following release from Reading, Saydee also enjoyed loan spells at Burton Albion, Poole Town, and Weymouth.

In total Saydee made six appearances for Cherries, his last the EFL Cup victory over Norwich City in August 22.

His only senior goal for the club came in the same competition, scoring in Cherries’ 5-0 romp over MK Dons at the start of the 2021-22 campaign.
