DORSET have clinched promotion to the top tier of county darts for the first time in its history.
Heading into the final week of action, five teams were still battling it out for the top two promotion slots to book their place in the Premiership.
Led by England duo Scott Mitchell and Tommy Morris, Dorset ended the Championship campaign in second place behind Humberside.
An 18-18 draw at Cambridgeshire was enough to secure promotion. The Ladies B team were beaten to start, despite wins for Lin Bellingham and Julie Boggust putting them 2-0 up.
The Men’s B team hit back with a 7-5 success, racing into a 5-1 by the halfway mark. Green Army winners in that match were Liam Blakeley, Matt Read, Mark Grimes, Owen Bowden, Richard Perry, Jordan Sharpe and Mark Porter.
Ladies A drew their contest, with Sally Old, Samantha Kirton and Julie Frampton triumphing.
That left it all to play for with the scores level going into the Men’s A match.
Robbie Martin got the team off to a winning start before Morris and Mitchell followed suit.
The hosts hit back through star duo Scott Williams and Dennis Harbour, but late wins from Ryan Gowans, Ricky King and Dale Masterman proved enough for celebrations to get underway in earnest for Dorset.
