PRICES for Cherries’ playing squad have been revealed for the 2023-24 season in Fantasy Premier League.
Fans are now able to construct their squads for the online game which has over 11 million users, with Premier League players themselves known to partake.
Although there will likely be further new faces – and departures – from Dean Court this summer, 28 Cherries have currently been priced up for the new season.
What is Fantasy Premier League?
Fantasy Premier League, shortened to FPL by those who play the game, is an online game that sees fans select a squad of 15 players from a budget of £100m, with Premier League stars given values based on a variety of factors, including past performances in previous seasons.
For example, Manchester City star Erling Haaland would take up almost 15 per cent of a supporters’ budget, the Norwegian valued at an FPL joint-record £14m thanks to his 36 goals in 35 top-flight appearances last campaign.
Out of the squad of 15, 11 are named in the starting XI, with points then awarded – or deducted – based on a range of criteria, including scoring goals, making assists, picking up bookings, and missing penalit.es
Even the most hardcore Cherries supporter would be unable to select a full squad of their heroes, however, as “managers” are limited to just three players from any specific club.
What are the prices for AFC Bournemouth players?
Dominic Solanke remains Cherries’ most expensive player, but has had his price slightly increased after contributing six goals and seven assists last term, his value rising from £6m to £6.5m.
Cherries’ next highest valued players Philip Billing and Marcus Tavernier are both valued at £5.5m, with both players listed as midfielders.
The top three correspond with the fact that Solanke, Billing, and Tavernier produced the highest points returns of any Cherries players, with 130, 126, and 94 points respectively.
Captain Neto, who earned a point off Tavernier’s total, has been valued at £4.5m by the FPL system, meaning he could represent value for money if new boss Andoni Iraola can shore up Cherries defence.
Irish goalkeepers Mark Travers and Darren Randolph will cost FPL players the minimum fee for a player, at £4m apiece.
As the team with the third worst defensive record in the Premier League last term it is no surprise that Cherries’ defenders are not as highly valued as other team’s backlines.
In fact, almost all of Cherries’ defence have been given values of £4.5m, with only James Hill, who finished last season on loan at Hearts, rated at the minimum of £4m.
There is a similar level of parity in midfield, with Ryan Christie, Lewis Cook, David Brooks, Joe Rothwell, Hamed Traore, Dango Ouattara and Jaidon Anthony all worth £5m according to FPL.
New signing Justin Kluivert is another at the £5m price mark, whilst Jamal Lowe, who looks set to depart Vitality Stadium this summer, also comes in at that value.
Ben Pearson, Emi Marcondes and Siriki Dembele are three others that look likely to leave Cherries, but they are rated at £4.5m. Youngster Gavin Kilkenny, who has featured in first team training this pre-season, is another valued at £4.5m.
Up front Kieffer Moore comes in at £5m, whilst January signing Antoine Semenyo may prove to be a bargain at £4.5m.
