POOLE Pirates’ Anders Rowe finished as runner-up to Connor Bailey in the British under-21 Speedway Championship.
The Pirate had dominated in the qualifiers at Glasgow, scoring a 15-point maximum, but the final proved a step too far as Aussie Bailey established a lead by the end of the first lap and never looked back.
After missing out at the start from the inside, Rowe improved throughout the race to go on and secure second late on, rounding Dan Thompson at the final bend.
Dorset-born Rowe is straight back into action this evening as he rides for his Premiership side King’s Lynn at Leicester Lions this evening.
Rowe will return to Glasgow later this week with his Pirates teammates, as they look to seal their BSN Series final on Friday, July 21.
Pirates lead 62-28 from the first leg.
