FORMER Cherry Brooklyn Genesini has secured a return to the professional ranks following his release at Vitality Stadium.

Right-back Genesini has been signed by League Two club Swindon Town after impressing on trial at the County Ground.

The Yeovil-born defender joined Cherries at under-16 level, remaining on the books until his release this summer.

Genesini made one first-team appearance for Cherries, coming off the bench to score a late equaliser against Norwich City in the EFL Cup last August.

Having previously spent time on loan at Poole Town, Genesini enjoyed a half-season with Danish second tier side Næstved Boldklub last term.

Speaking about the move, the 21-year-old shared:

"I love a challenge, so I'm going to try and overcome them at some stage.

"I have short-term and long-term goals. In the short term, I want to get myself in the starting line-up this season.

"With that comes loads of assists, a few goals, and being defensively solid as well. As a wing-back, you're always pushing up and down all the time.

"To be versatile on the pitch and trustworthy for the manager, especially in these leagues where these three points are crucial. It can be the difference between getting promoted or missing out.

"I'm going to push myself, and then when I do get the opportunity I'll prove that I'm trustworthy and I can play."
