LIVERPOOL look set to sign midfielder Wataru Endo, ahead of this weekend’s clash against Cherries.
That is according to a report by The Guardian, who say the Japan international is closing in on a £15.4million switch from Stuttgart.
Endo, 30, is captain of the Japan national team.
Liverpool have been on a desperate hunt for midfield reinforcements, following summer departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have come through the door, but the Reds look set to miss out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
That has seen them turn to Endo, who is reportedly set to undergo a medical today.
He previously played for Shonan Bellmare and Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, until moving to Europe with Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden, before linking up with Stuttgart, initially on loan in 2019.
Liverpool started their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday.
Cherries head to Anfield on Saturday (3pm).
