DOMINIC Solanke admitted conceding late on at Brentford was “a bit gutting”, adding: “It almost feels like a defeat.”
Cherries looked on course for their first Premier League win of the campaign, leading 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium thanks to goals from Solanke and David Brooks.
But Bryan Mbeumo popped up in stoppage time to earn his side a share of the spoils.
“It almost feels like a defeat when you concede that late,” Solanke told the Daily Echo.
“I think we did well to get back in front and we just wanted to try and see out the game, but we managed to concede late one. We’re a bit down about that.”
Discussing the game as a whole, Solanke added: “It’s two sides that like to attack and like to attack quickly as well.
“So we knew it was going to be a bit of a game like that where there would be fast transitions.
“I think these type of games, they’re always nice to play in because we’re going to get chances.
“But ultimately we need to try and keep it out as well. But it was tight game.”
Cherries sit 16th in the table with two points from their opening four matches.
Reflecting on the start to the season, which has also seen a draw against West Ham United, as well as defeats to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, striker Solanke said: “Obviously we want to try and get points from whatever games we can.
“We’ll look at West Ham and Brentford especially, we would’ve wanted to try and get the three points.
“We were close at Brentford, but didn’t quite manage it so it feels a bit gutting right now.
“But we’ll take the point and move on.”
Cherries now have a break in fixtures, before hosting Chelsea on September 17.
“We’ve got a couple of days off now, but we’ll be straight back into work,” said Solanke.
“It’s just the start of the season really, so we need to make sure that we’re ready to try and get some more points in the next couple of games.”
