BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank says Cherries’ summer spending “shows the competition of the Premier League is unbelievable”.

The Bees played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Andoni Iraola’s men at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, Bryan Mbeumo scoring a late equaliser for the hosts.

It represented a first meeting between Frank and Iraola, the Spaniard arriving at Cherries over the summer.

Asked how he found his first experience of facing an Iraola side, Frank said: “A nice challenge, a good challenge.

“I think it was an open game actually, most of the game, both ways.

“They pressed more aggressive and forward. I like that in many ways.”

He continued: “Just another thing I was thinking about Bournemouth, they spent £120million in the transfer market, something like that?

“It just shows the competition of the Premier League is unbelievable.

“The things we keep doing in this league with probably the third lowest budget, I think is so remarkable, in many ways.”

Cherries bolstered their squad in the summer with the likes of Alex Scott, Tyler Adams, Milos Kerkez, Justin Kluivert and Max Aarons.

Brentford, promoted in 2021, spent a reported £56million on Nathan Collins, Kevin Schade and Mark Flekken in the last transfer window.
