CHERRIES defender Lloyd Kelly believes his side’s attacking intent against Chelsea bodes well for the future.

Although Chelsea hit the woodwork twice, defences were on top for both teams, leading to a 0-0 draw at Vitality Stadium.

Kelly returned to the starting line-up on Sunday after missing the 2-2 draw at Brentford prior to the international break following a rejected bid for his services from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.

Restored to the team, Kelly impressed at the back, starting off in the heart of defence before finishing the game at left-back.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Kelly shared: “I think it's positive.

“Although when you look across the whole game, I think we definitely had our chances, you could say so did they.

“But, I think overall it was positive.

“We played forward and we made runs into the box.

“Obviously we didn't create that goal, but the intent was there.

“I think that's the main thing.

“But everyone looking back on it, I think we could have been a little bit more clinical.

“I think overall it was a positive.

Asked about Cherries’ first clean sheet of the campaign, Kelly replied: “As defenders, of course that's our main goal.

“We'll be happy from that and hopefully we can build on that.”
