MATCH of the Day pundits Leon Osman and Jermaine Jenas raved about Justin Kluivert’s cameo appearance off the bench for Cherries against Chelsea, stating how they felt the Dutchman helped his side threaten in the closing stages.

Despite a lack of goals, Sunday’s fixture was not devoid of action, with Cherries and Chelsea recording 27 shots between them at Vitality Stadium.

Cherries' best moments came towards the latter stages of the match, following the introduction of Kluivert in place of Dango Ouattara, among other changes.

On Match of the Day 2, former Everton midfielder Osman commented: “As the game went on, Bournemouth got stronger and stronger.

“The changes that Bournemouth were able to make, particularly Kluivert coming onto the field made a huge difference.

“He brought an energy, he brought a directness.

“He brought a desire to get forward and create things for his team and he showed some real skill and real ability.

“And if you bring on a player that wants to make a difference, has the ability to make an impact and the game’s 0-0 at this stage, Bournemouth had worked hard to keep it at that pace, that sometimes the crowd are lifted by a player that can just run with the ball.

“Dragging players, create things for other teammates.

“And when he did, he never stopped running.

“Just his all round impact just had a big influence on his team.”

Jenas concurred, believing the introduction of Kluivert provided a lift to talismanic striker Dominic Solanke.

“I think one of the biggest things as well in the first half, (Dominic Solanke) had one touch in the opposition box," began the former England international.

“In the second half he had 12 touches in the opposition box, but nine of them was when Kluivert comes on to the pitch.

“So I think that as a striker, automatically his eyes light up.

“He's like, ‘I'm in the game now.’

“But (Kluivert) had a real impact on the game.

“When he comes on onto the pitch. I think there's a lot there for Bournemouth fans to be excited about.”
