MAX Aarons hopes Cherries can use Brighton’s midweek exploits to their advantage on Sunday.

The Seagulls are embarking on their historic first European adventure, which began with a 3-2 home defeat against AEK Athens on Thursday.

By contrast, Cherries had a free week to prepare for their visit to the Amex this weekend, since drawing 0-0 with Chelsea on Sunday.

“They’ve got a midweek game and I know how tough it is when you’re playing a midweek game and then onto the weekend game,” right-back Aarons told the Daily Echo.

“It can be really tough. We’ve got some time to prepare, recover and get ready for them.

“I’m sure we’ll watch them during the week and get ready for them.

“But it’s going to be a similar game (to Chelsea) in terms of they’ll try to have a lot of the ball and try and isolate one v one.

“It’s about us doing exactly what we’ve done (on Sunday), winning our duels, being aggressive and also being very good on the ball.”

Brighton have made a strong start to the season, taking 12 points from their opening five matches, notably beating Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford last weekend.

Discussing the challenge ahead, Aarons said: “Each game is tough in its own way.

“Going to Brighton, they’re on a great run of form now.

“It’s another game that we’re going to have to be at our best.

“But if we play like we did (last week), we’ll cause any team problems.

“For sure we can get at them as well, and I’m sure they’ll be watching the performance (against Chelsea) and know the threats that we have.”

Cherries sit 15th in the table, yet to win in the league under Andoni Iraola.

“That first win feels like it’s around the corner now,” insisted Aarons.

“We’d scored goals before the international break and it was about keeping them out.

“I think we’ve made that step (last Sunday) and just disappointed that we couldn’t find the back of the net.

“To get that win, obviously we’re going to need to put the two together and I think that’s not far off.”

Looking ahead to the trip to the Amex, Aarons's teammate Milos Kerkez said: "Brighton is a really, really good team.

"They play really nice football, but we will go there, we will prepare this week and we want to try to get the points also there.

"Of course it will be tough, they play really good football, but we don’t go there and it’s like we don’t have a chance.

"We have a chance and we want to take points."
