BOSS Andoni Iraola admits “you have to be worried” after Cherries’ resounding 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Cherries were outclassed by the Toffees with goals from James Garner, Jack Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucoure more than enough for Everton to run out victorious.
Defeat leaves Cherries 19th in the table, with the worst offensive record in the Premier League, while only rock-bottom Sheffield United have conceded more.
Ahead of the game, Iraola said this contest would be a good chance to gauge where Cherries are at as a team.
Asked how worried he was with what he saw from his team against Everton, the Spaniard told the Daily Echo: “When you are in the relegation spots, like we are now, you have to be worried. You have to continue working, you have to improve.
“For me, the first thing we have to do is be much more solid defensively.
“We are conceding too easy goals. They are taking us from the games.
“We have to keep the concentration for 100 minutes, otherwise it is very difficult.”
Cherries fell behind inside eight minutes, Illia Zabarnyi’s slip allowing Garner to break the deadlock.
Further defensive errors later in the half from the likes of Marcos Senesi and Neto went unpunished, before Harrison doubled the advantage after Neto twice opted to punch crosses into the box.
Quizzed on if he feels individual mistakes at the back are down to a lack of confidence in the team, Iraola said: “I think the first goal took a little bit of confidence from us, especially in the build-up. I think it is too easy a goal to concede.
“It was key today, because it gives them the confidence, it also gives them the momentum.
“When you are facing this kind of game, it is very important you start well.
“We talked about starting well, in the first minute putting the pressure on. The way we conceded the first goal especially, it turned everything around.”
