FORMER Cherries target Hugo Larsson has shared how his former agents pushed for him to move to England last January, partly leading to the representative being banned by the Swedish FA for 18 months.

Then 18, Cherries reportedly intended to sign the midfielder from Malmo and send him out on loan to fellow Black Knight club FC Lorient.

Following the breakdown of the move, Larsson came out and said that he felt a loan spell at Lorient was not the right fit, whilst a move straight to Cherries would be too big a step.

This summer he moved to the Bundesliga, joining Frankfurt for a fee of £9.9million, a record for a Swedish teenager.

Now Larsson has come out and stated that his previous agent, Magnus Agnar Magnusson, desperately pushed for the Swedish international to accept the move to Cherries.

Speaking in his native Swedish, Larsson shared on international duty: “I have not really been that involved in the process.

“It's no secret that I almost left Malmö for England in January.

“It wasn't something I wanted while I felt that my agents pushed me very hard to it, and that was somewhere where it started and I felt that I didn't want to work with them anymore.

“They were quite clear that they wanted me to go there. There were calls and text messages all the time, I guess that's how the world works.

“But I was pretty clear from the start that I didn't want to jump on it. That's where we started to drift apart.”

Larsson reported Magnusson for several violations to a disciplinary committee, also stating that he had been subject to baseless accusations by the agent after stating he had lost faith in his representation.

The Swedish FA (SvFF) have banned Magnusson until March 2025 for not following "central regulations for the protection of young players".
