CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola believes his predecessor Gary O’Neil is “doing well at Wolves”, stating that it is hard to tell if any insider information will be “an advantage or not”.

O’Neil arrives at Vitality Stadium for the first time since his sacking in June, the former Portsmouth midfielder making way for Iraola despite keeping Cherries up in the Premier League.

With overlap in both the playing and coaching staff, there is the suggestion that Cherries will be clued up on O’Neil’s approach.

Asked about O’Neil’s return, Iraola shared: “I think it is probably more a question for him.

“We all agree Gary had a successful season.

“He is also doing well at Wolves. For sure he knows our players’ strengths and weaknesses.

“Also part of our staff will know some of their tactics.

“You never know if it will be an advantage or not.

“For sure it will be special for him, before and after the game, because I had the previous experience when I was playing with Rayo against Athletic and Mirandes.

“It is something special, but once the game starts, you are focused on the sport side and you forget everything else.

“Whenever you change teams, you also have to change tactics.

“You have different strengths, different weaknesses, different players that are making the difference.

“So a lot of things change and we cannot take too many conclusions.”

Iraola then went on to identify Wolves’ dangermen, highlighting Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha.

He continued: “Pedro Neto right now is flying. He is very good one on one, very fast.

“He is giving the assists and being very, very dangerous.

“He is performing really well. Hwang with the goals, Cunha is an amazing player, I know him from La Liga, he is very good.

“He doesn’t stay up front, he comes to receive, turns.

“He is very good also in one on ones.

“They are a very good counter-attacking team, because they have the pace up front with these players.

“So we have to be aware of a lot of things.”
