ANDONI Iraola says Cherries will need to produce a “special game” if they are to knock in-form Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup.
The two sides go head-to-head in the fourth round of the competition at Vitality Stadium tomorrow (7.45pm).
Liverpool, who have won the trophy more times than any other club, have been in red-hot form this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have racked up 11 wins from their 14 matches across league, cup and European competition. They have drawn twice, with their only defeat coming away at Tottenham Hotspur, where they were reduced to nine men.
One of Liverpool’s victories came against Cherries in August, battling back to seal a 3-1 win at Anfield, despite midfielder Alexis Mac Allister being sent off before the hour mark.

Asked what he can take from that contest going into tomorrow’s cup clash, head coach Iraola said: “We had very good spells in that game.
“I think we started very well. I remember a very good 20-25 minutes.
“Also at the end, obviously they were with 10 men and we pushed, but there was a moment, especially the second part of the first half let’s say, where they had these moments where they pushed a lot, they press you, they put a lot of pressure on you and we suffered.
“I remember 10-15 minutes we were suffering, when they scored the penalty. It will be spells like this against these kind of teams.
“I think they are doing really, really well.
“They’ve only lost the game where they were with nine players. And they lost it at the end with an own goal.
“We have to play a really special game. We know this.
“But we have to maximise our chances. We can only do this if we play at 100 per cent.”
During his time as a manager in Spain, Iraola guided both Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
Discussing the chance to create some cup history with Cherries, Iraola said: “I think we have to see it this way, because it is the truth.
“If you win against Liverpool, you have the chance to play in the quarter-finals of a cup.
“It is something that you will remember, for sure.
“It is not easy to do it though. We know that it is very difficult.
“We know that we have to play at our best level. But it is a chance we have to create something special in this competition.”
The last time these two clubs went head-to-head at Vitality Stadium, back in March, Cherries came out on top thanks to a Philip Billing goal.
