ANDONI Iraola faces an intriguing team selection for tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.

Pressure has eased somewhat following the win over Burnley on Saturday, a first in the league this season.

This clash with nine-time EFL Cup winners Liverpool at Vitality Stadium comes just three days before facing Premier League champions Manchester City away from home.

Iraola says some players who started against Burnley will do so again tonight, while there will also be some fresh legs.

Here is a look at how Cherries could line up -

Goalkeeper

With Neto injured, Darren Randolph unavailable and Mark Travers cup-tied, the decision has already been made for Andoni Iraola.

Andrei Radu will keep his place, having started in each of the last two rounds and also made his Premier League debut against Burnley on Saturday.

Development squad goalkeeper Cameron Plain will fill the place on the bench.

Speaking to the Daily Echo on Tuesday, Iraola confirmed: “Cam is helping us in training and he can be involved in the squad, so we will go with Andrei and Cam.”

Defence

After being given a rare rest at the weekend, it seems likely Milos Kerkez could return to the starting XI on Wednesday night at left-back.

Marcos Senesi is available again, after being left out against Burnley due to a small injury issue.

Given the backs-to-the-wall defending Cherries are likely to be forced into at times against an in-form Liverpool side, Senesi seems perfectly suited.

Chris Mepham came into the team and did well against Burnley, so it makes sense for him to keep his place, allowing Illia Zabarnyi a breather, having played every minute of Premier League action so far this term.

At right-back, Adam Smith captained the side and played the full 90 minutes in the last round against Stoke City, so he seems a good choice to do so again against Liverpool.

Bournemouth Echo:

Midfield

There are again some tricky selections in this part of the pitch.

As good as Alex Scott and Philip Billing have been in the past couple of weeks, both finished tired on Saturday.

With Scott just back from injury and Billing subbed off in that win, it could be a wise call to have them both as options off the bench.

With Lewis Cook still suspended, that would mean a start for Joe Rothwell in the deeper midfield role.

The former Blackburn Rovers man started, and scored, in the last round against Stoke.

Gavin Kilkenny is also an option, having come through a development squad game last week. But whether Iraola would be confident throwing him straight in against Liverpool for his first appearance of the season is questionable.

The energy of Ryan Christie could be utilised deeper than usual, alongside Rothwell to try and quell Liverpool’s attack.

Hamed Traore has started the past two rounds, scoring at Swansea City, and needs game-time. Iraola confirmed the Ivorian will be in the squad, so his creativity could be a good weapon against what may well be a young Liverpool back-line.

Forwards

It would not be a huge surprise to see Dominic Solanke start, but Antoine Semenyo impressed on his return to the team on Saturday and could be shifted centrally to give the Englishman a rest.

The wings again are tough to call but David Brooks, who has started both games in the competition so far, and Justin Kluivert could be a good combination of guile and pace for when Cherries are on the attack.

Predicted XI: Radu; Smith, Mepham, Senesi, Kerkez; Rothwell, Christie; Brooks, Traore, Kluivert; Semenyo.
