CHERRIES have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to Manchester City this weekend, but boss Andoni Iraola shared how his side were “tired” after their midweek exploits.

There is a short turnaround for Cherries to contend with this week, having been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Liverpool on Wednesday night via a 2-1 defeat.

On Saturday (3pm) they visit the reigning champions, with Cherries winless in their previous 19 encounters with the Cityzens.

Lloyd Kelly was rested for the Liverpool cup tie but is available for selection, whilst Lewis Cook will serve the final game of a three-match ban.

Asked for team news, Iraola replied: “This morning they were tired.

“Yesterday's game was physically, really demanding because both of the teams try to play with a high rhythm, try to press, both sides.

“It's not going to be easy to be ready again physically 100% on Saturday, but it's what we have to try.

“We have another 48 hours before the game, so we hope we can play most of the players here.”

Since making his debut against Wolves at the start of October, Alex Scott has been eased back into the flow of things following a knee injury that halted his start to life on the south coast.

The England youth international played just shy of an hour against Wolves, before lasting the entirety of Cherries’ win over Burnley.

Scott played 81 minutes of Wednesday’s defeat to Liverpool, with Iraola admitting that the midfielder will need to be thoroughly assessed ahead of the visit to the Etihad.

Asked about Scott, Iraola replied: “I think we have been much, much better past two games in set pieces, offensive set pieces.

“We scored against Liverpool.

“We had some good chances and he has been a huge part.

“I think he has performed really well.

“We have to see how he recovers because he played all the game against Burnley, yesterday he played a lot of minutes also.

"So we have to see how he is feeling before we make the choosing for the starting 11.”
