ALEX Scott is set for another spell on the sidelines, as he recovers from a second knee injury of the season.

The 20-year-old has damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, following a challenge with Rodri in last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Scott only returned from an injury to his left knee last month, starting four games in succession and impressing, before disaster struck at the Etihad.

Taking to social media on Thursday evening, Scott posted pictures of himself in tears from the aftermath of the challenge, with the captions “gutted” and “trust the process”.

Asked for detail on the midfielder’s injury and how lengthy his absence could be, Iraola said: “How long is always difficult to say, because it depends on the evolution, the medical staff and what they think.

“He has an MCL sprain. It’s a grade two.

“I think Marcus Tavernier had the same injury in pre-season.

“Alex’s is in the other knee, nothing to do with the previous injury. But that is what the doctors have told us.”

Tavernier missed around seven weeks of action after sustaining his knee injury in July.
