DEVELOPMENT squad boss Alan Connell was left with “mixed emotions” after Cherries’ 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

Early goals from Balraj Landa and Daniel Adu-Adjei looked to be setting Cherries on their way to overhauling leaders QPR and moving top of Group South of the Professional Development League.

However, the hosts scored twice in the final 20 minutes to earn a share of the spoils.

Connell’s side are now on an 11-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, winning nine and drawing two.

Discussing the game at Hanwell Town, Connell told afcbTV: “I enjoyed our first-half performance. On a difficult pitch, I thought it was excellent. I loved the flexibility in our play.

“I thought we looked a real threat going forwards. It was almost a complete first-half performance.

“Everything that happened in the second half is what we warned could happen. We knew QPR would react and it was how we would deal with that.

“Whilst we were nowhere near as good on the ball, which can happen, we still had two big chances to kill the game off. That’s obviously the frustration.

“And then two goals that, for all our good play and the great goal we’re scoring at the moment, we can’t give away the type of goals that we did to only draw this game.”

“The first goal, a corner, it’s difficult because they’re taller and bigger than us, but it was a soft goal to concede and one we need to do better on.

“The second goal flashed across the box and ends up trickling in the far corner. So it’s frustrating.”

He added: “The boys are disappointed and I understand that. I’m more mixed emotions.

“I’m very proud of our first-half performance, because I thought it was almost complete, both with and without the ball.

“But of course when you’re 2-0 up, you want to win the game.

“There are lessons to be learned for sure. But it’s another game unbeaten.”
