ANDONI Iraola was pleased that his Cherries side took the first step in improving their away form following victory at Sheffield United.

Marcus Tavernier’s double combined with Justin Kluivert’s first-half strike proved move than enough for Cherries to record their first away win of the campaign, the final score 3-1 at Bramall Lane after Oli McBurnie’s strike deep into stoppage time.

Previously Cherries had only picked up one point from their five trips on the road, avoiding defeat at Brentford at the start of September.

Prior to the game Iraola had mentioned that he was targeting more points on Cherries’ travels, with the victory meaning only Sheffield United remain winless away from home in the Premier League this term.

However, Cherries still have one of the worst away records in the division, level with Burnley, Luton and Nottingham Forest with four points from their respective travels.

Iraola told the Daily Echo: “For us it is something we needed to improve.

“I would say we’ve had tough games away this season.

“But after improving at home, we needed this win.

“I’m also happy for the supporters that they were supporting us, all their travels and all the games we have played away.

“I’m really happy for them.”
