PUNDIT Joleon Lescott believes Cherries’ win over Sheffield United “will do wonders” for their confidence.
Marcus Tavernier caught the eye of the former Manchester City and Everton defender at the weekend, the winger plundering two goals as Cherries cruised to a 3-1 win at Bramall Lane.
Justin Kluivert also got in on the act, with Cherries’ first away victory of the campaign lifting them seven points clear of the relegation zone.
And Lescott believes that gap will give Cherries confidence heading into a busy month of fixtures.
Writing for Livescore.com, Lescott shared: “Bournemouth picked up a precious three points against relegation rivals Sheffield United largely thanks to Marcus Tavernier's display.
“The Cherries winger scored his first two goals of the season in the 3-1 win and could prove a crucial player for Andoni Iraola as the campaign progresses.
“It is always harder to find that consistency when you're playing for a team towards the bottom and moving seven points clear of the relegation zone will do wonders for the confidence of the whole group.
“A special shoutout too for Justin Kluivert, who became just the second player this century to score in all five of Europe's top leagues — Bournemouth are certainly not short of attacking talent in their battle against the drop.”
