RYAN Fredericks will not feature for Cherries in the coming weeks, after suffering “setbacks” on his road to recovery, revealed boss Andoni Iraola.
Cherries are currently missing important full-back options in Max Aarons and Lloyd Kelly due to hamstring injuries.
That leaves Milos Kerkez and Adam Smith as the only recognised senior options for those positions, heading into a busy month of seven fixtures in December.
Experienced right-back Fredericks, who joined the club in the summer of 2022, has not featured since suffering a calf injury in March.
Asked if the 31-year-old could return to help cover at full-back over the next month, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “No. Ryan hasn’t trained with us at all.
“In training during this season he has had some setbacks in the process of recovering.
“In the previous season he had a lot of muscle injuries and right now he hasn’t started doing anything with the team.”
In total, Fredericks has made 13 appearances for Cherries since arriving from West Ham United.
Cherries are also still without injured Tyler Adams (hamstring) and Alex Scott (knee) for the visit of Aston Villa on Sunday (2pm), while Emiliano Marcondes is not yet quite ready to be considered, having returned from injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.
