CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola has shared how he has been impressed with development squad players that have trained with the first team.

Alan Connell’s young charges are on fine form at the moment, having racked up a streak of 12 games without defeat.

That run has placed them second in the southern section of the Professional Development League during their debut season as a Category Two academy.

Cherries are a point off first-placed QPR, whilst enjoying a game in hand over the London outfit.

Recently starlets Ben Greenwood, Daniel Adu-Adjei, Max Kinsey, Dominic Sadi, and Nathan Moriah-Welsh featured in a first-team friendly against Brentford.

This evening the development squad are in action in the Premier League Cup, hosting Ipswich Town at Vitality Stadium (7pm).

Asked about the development squad, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “They are performing really well, they are playing really nice football. Also, I can see whenever they train with us they can keep the level, they can train with a Premier League team, very young players.

“I think it’s good because they are playing in a category two level, now they are (near) top of the league. It’s good, for sure, we will have players that can help us.”
