MANCHESTER United boss Erik ten Hag says his side gave Cherries the “perfect circumstances” by falling behind inside the opening five minutes.

Dominic Solanke set the visitors on their way to a famous victory at Old Trafford, with second-half goals from Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi sealing an historic 3-0 success.

Reflecting on the contest, Ten Hag said: “Of course annoyed and disappointed. Definitely I expected something different.

“I hoped before the game we could build on the performance and result (2-1 win) against Chelsea (on Wednesday).

“So the way we started the game is very disappointing.

“Then we had a long time to get back in the game, but we got a warning shot with almost a penalty. Then in the build-up we make a mistake and we are not good enough in defence. So that is disappointing.

“We put a lot of effort in, but then the movements in the box were not there.

“After it went 2-0, we broke down. We have to do things better.”

He added: “The way we started is no good, it is poor, the first five minutes of the game.

“And especially against an opponent like today, a very good transition team.

“You give them the perfect circumstances. It shouldn’t happen.

“I think we did everything to return in the game. We had a lot of attacks, but couldn’t come to a point to turning the game.

“We have to be ready for the game from the start. In this league, it can’t be that you’re not playing on your highest levels, because you will get killed.

“That’s what happened in the first five minutes. Especially against them, a good transition team, you make life easy for them.

“They have the perfect conditions to play in. It can’t happen that you so easily concede a goal.”
