CHERRIES are reportedly planning to recall James Hill from his fruitful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers.
The England youth international featured for Cherries on the opening day of the Premier League season, before heading to Championship Rovers at the end of August.
Hill has played a key role for 17th-placed Blackburn under former Denmark international Jon Dahl Tomasson, making 20 appearances at either centre-back or right-back, scoring once.
The Lancashire Telegraph report Cherries are intending to bring Hill back to Vitality Stadium, when the recall clause activates next week.
Due to league rules, he would not be able to join another club until the summer, meaning should he return, Hill would be part of Cherries’ first-team squad for the remainder of the campaign.
The report states Cherries want to bring the 20-year-old back to help cover defensive injuries in the squad.
Lloyd Kelly and Milos Kerkez are currently out injured, as well as long-term absentee Ryan Fredericks.
Centre-back Marcos Senesi is suspended for Cherries’ next Premier League game against Liverpool, on January 21.
Illia Zabarnyi, Chris Mepham, Adam Smith and Max Aarons are the other senior defenders on Cherries’ books.
Hill joined Cherries from Fleetwood Town in January 2022, but has made just five competitive appearances, spending time on loan at Hearts last season.
