CHERRIES winger Luis Sinisterra felt his side “paid the price” for second-half lapses in concentration during their 4-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

After giving as good as they got in a first period that saw the teams deadlocked at 0-0 heading into the break Cherries conceded four times in the second period, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both grabbing braces.

Sinisterra started the match before being replaced by Alex Scott in the 55th minute, shortly after Nunez had opened scores for Liverpool.

Liverpool displayed a clinical nature for all four goals, although some lax defending allowed the Reds’ slick passing moves to be even more incisive.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after the game, Sinisterra shared: “Of course it’s very disappointing, the result.

“I think we did a good first half. But in the second half, in one action, we lost the concentration and we paid the price.

“But we're looking forward for Thursday’s game (against Swansea City) to get back in the winning ways.

“These kind of games against big teams, you have to be focused in every moment.

“We concede the first goal and then we lost the concentration.

“They became better, and so that's why we lost the game today.”

The first half saw Cherries frequently get into dangerous positions without finding the final ball, with cutbacks into the area agonisingly running away from their intended recipients.

“In the first half we had many, many options to score or maybe to end it in a better way,” Sinisterra continued.

“But we lost that final pass.

“A little bit of patience in the last pass and the last shot.

“But anyway, we went into the second half (with) everything to play, and then we lost the concentration and that's why we lost.”

Cherries are next in action on Thursday evening (7.45pm) when they face Swansea City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Sinisterra is already looking at the match against Championship opposition as an opportunity to move on from Sunday’s defeat.

“I think we just have to be careful of the details, especially against Liverpool,” the Colombian international restarted.

“Big team, and they have good players. So every time, every action has to be very careful.

“I think we have to improve in that. But anyway on Thursday we have a new chance to change this.”

Cherries remain in 12th in the Premier League table, with 25 points from 20 games.
