CHARLTON Athletic proved little trouble for Cherries’ development squad as they ran out 4-0 winners at New Cuthbury.
Having already secured passage to the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup with a 5-1 win over Wolves on Monday night, Cherries raced into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes thanks to goals from Daniel Adu-Adjei, Balraj Landa and Dominic Sadi.
Adu-Adjei made sure of the result 15 minutes from time, cementing Cherries’ grasp on top spot.
Cherries got off to a flying start, Adu-Adeji opening scores inside two minutes.
The young striker bore down on goal, keeping his cool as he entered the box to slot home.
Goalscorer would turn provider shortly after on 13 minutes, the striker keeping the ball in play before teeing up Landa.
By quarter of an hour of action, it would be three.
A cross into the Charlton box was knocked down to the feet of Sadi, who simply struck the ball into the net for his third goal in two games.
After a flurry of Cherries goals, it was time for the away side to enjoy a spell in front of goal.
However, they frequently found Cam Plain well positioned and equal to their efforts.
Sadi’s persistent run through the middle almost produced Cherries’ fourth, the midfielder riding numerous tackles before switching it out wide to substitute Ashley Clarke.
Clarke then cut the ball back into the area, Adu-Adjei’s eventual shot flying narrowly over the bar.
As the half came to a close, that trio connected again.
Sadi asked for the ball from Clarke, who duly delivered, before turning past two and slipping in Adu-Adjei.
Only a save from Prince Adegoke in the Charlton goal prevented a fourth, Adu-Adjei’s effort turned around the post.
In the second half chances were at a premium for both sides.
Noa Boutin’s drive down the left flank saw the wing-back enter the area by the byline, pulling the ball back to the waiting Adu-Adjei in the six-yard box.
The prodded finish seemed destined for the back of the net, only for the goalkeeper to make a sprawling save to keep it at three.
But the goalie would be at fault for Cherries’ fourth.
A mistake from Adegoke saw Adu-Adjei gifted the ball outside the Charlton box.
The goalkeeper scrambled back to his line but could not prevent Adu-Adjei collecting his brace.
