ANDONI Iraola feels Enes Unal “did well” on his Cherries debut, adding: “He helped us a lot.”
Striker Unal arrived at Cherries three days before the weekend trip to Fulham, having been signed on transfer deadline day from Getafe.
The 26-year-old was named on the bench at Craven Cottage, brought on midway through the second half, with Cherries 3-1 down.
That would be how the score stayed, the visitors unable to turn their second-half pressure into late goals.
Unal partnered Dominic Solanke in attack during the closing stages, with Antoine Semenyo and Dango Ouattara substituted on as wingers.
Asked for his assessment of Unal’s first appearance in a Cherries shirt, head coach Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think we had good minutes with him on the pitch.
“I think he helped us a lot, close to Dom.
“It was difficult to find the spaces because they were defending low, but he got good balls.
“He took some fouls for the team and I think he did well.”
Unal will hope for more minutes on Saturday, when Cherries make the long trip to face Newcastle United (3pm).
The Turkey international could then make his home debut against his former club Manchester City later this month.
