CHERRIES head coach Andoni Iraola described his side’s exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Leicester City as a “bad day”.

A sublime strike from Leicester substitute Abdul Fatawu decided a game scant of quality, the Foxes running out 1-0 winners at Vitality Stadium after 120 minutes of fifth-round action.

Cherries mustered 27 shots but could only fashion four on goal, with Leicester nearly as impotent with six efforts out of 22 finding their target.

Asked for his thoughts following the disappointment: “I think it's a bad day because we had hopes in this competition.

“But it's true also that if you play 120 minutes at home, you have the chances to attack that we had, and you don't score a goal, at the end you deserve to go out of the competition.

“We have been really bad in the last third, really bad.

“Because we recovered the ball very high and a lot of times even not only the shot, the last passes and we didn't decide well.

“At the end they made the difference. They scored from a very difficult position. That's the main reason they won.”

Iraola admitted that his side’s lack of a clinical edge had reared its head far too often in recent weeks, with Cherries lack of goals compounded by concerns over top goalscorer Dominic Solanke and a knee issue.

“I think at the end this is something that is happening to us, especially the last month, I will say,” continued the Basque boss.

“Even the games we played very well Newcastle, City, we had 20 something shots also, we are not scoring enough.

“At the end this is what makes the difference.

“Today, especially first half. I think we had some good momentum before the injury of Enes (Unal).

“It looked like we could score the first one.

“We didn't take those chances.

“And from there we tried different things with different number nines. But we didn't find the good positions.”
