HEAD coach Andoni Iraola has detailed his plans for the last international break of the season, with Cherries hoping to recover players from injury over the coming weeks.
Cherries have an extended break compared to some of their Premier League rivals, with their game last weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers postponed due to their opponents’ participation in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
That means Cherries have a gap of 17 days between their last game, a remarkable comeback victory against Luton Town, and the visit of Everton to Vitality Stadium on Saturday, March 30.
After the midweek victory over Luton, Cherries returned to training, Iraola aiming to maximise the amount of time he could spend with international players before they join up with their national teams.
Players not on international duty may enjoy some time off, but Iraola also detailed plans for injured trio Lloyd Kelly, Max Aarons, and James Hill, with the defenders potentially set for some minutes with the development squad.
Iraola told the Daily Echo: “They will not have a big, big break. Probably they will have three or four days.
“But after we have to continue training because at the end we cannot lose the form.
“We have to finish strong. The thing is, probably with the last national team breaks, you are training with eight, nine, 10 players because probably there are some players that they need a little bit of less training to recover from small issues they have.
“It’s difficult.
“There can be a chance to play friendly sometimes.
“We can use also the development squad to give minutes to the ones that we could recover.
“Thinking Lloyd Kelly, James Hill, Max Aarons we hope to recover in these weeks.
“They can use it in this process and try to be ready.
“Because still we have after the break another ten games of the league.
“We have to be as healthy as we can.”
