CHERRIES captain Neto says he is “not a big fan” of social media, admitting: “It is very easy for people to just lose control.”
Earlier this season, Neto’s teammate Adam Smith spoke out about some abuse he had received from Cherries supporters, saying it had become “grinding”.
Neto does have an Instagram account, with 1million followers, which more recently he uses almost exclusively for football photos, rather than images from his personal life. His X account is also still live, but he has not posted since 2020.
Asked for his take on comments made to footballers on social media, goalkeeper Neto said: “To be honest, I am not very much a fan of social media.
“In the world today, it is very difficult to give your opinion, because all the time we are here criticised for the opinion.
“Myself, I am not a big fan because I think anyone can say anything and have no punishment.
“So myself, I try to live my life in the best way, work with social media just as a professional and keep my life going without giving importance to this stuff.”
The 34-year-old added: “I am not very online on social media.
“I think it is a very good thing, but it is very easy for people to just lose control. I think it is too much.”
