CHERRIES’ Illia Zabarnyi helped Ukraine qualify for Euro 2024, playing the full 90 minutes of their 2-1 win over Iceland.
The Ukrainians had trailed at half time of the play-off final after Albert Guðmundsson’s opener, but quickly restored parity after the break through Viktor Tsyhankov.
Late on Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk found a winner, sending Zabarnyi and Ukraine to Germany this summer.
But there was not the same joy for Cherries’ trio of Welshmen.
Kieffer Moore, Chris Mepham, and David Brooks will not be visiting Germany after their country lost on penalties at home to Poland.
Elsewhere Antoine Semenyo played the entirety of Ghana’s fiery 2-2 draw with Uganda. The Black Stars ended the game with nine men following two red cards in the final 10 minutes.
As a precaution, Milos Kerkez missed Hungary’s 2-0 win over Balkan neighbours Kosovo.
Alex Scott started and provided two assists as England under-21s thrashed Luxembourg 7-0 in Bolton.
Enes Unal watched on as an unused sub as his Turkey were thumped 6-1 by Austria.
Similarly, Mark Travers also remained on the bench as the Republic of Ireland lost at home to Switzerland.
Ryan Christie could not snap Scotland’s winless streak of six games as it stretched to seven with a shock 1-0 loss at home to Northern Ireland, the midfielder playing 78 minutes.
