WESTLECOTE'S Neil Smith walked away with the Bowlaway Bournemouth Open men's singles title after beating Boscombe Cliff's Nicky Jones - and the horrendous weather.
With Jones leading and holding four shots at the 18th end, Smith trailed the jack for two shots before winning the final two ends for a score of 21-18.
Earlier, as the drizzle fell, Jones had seen off the challenge of Alec Atkinson (Manchester Commonwealth) in the semi-final, while Smith edged out Yeovil's Peter Colby to reach the final.
In the pairs final, veteran Peter Line and wife Wendy, the 2006 winners, had to settle for the runners-up prize after losing out to Worcester duo Bridget Cresswell and Adrian Burbridge.
The Lines were leading at the 15th end, before eventually succumbing 18-13.
Ringwood / Banister Park trio John Thomas, Peter Ward and Adam Tidby missed out on the men's triples crown as Worcester's Richard Hall and Rob Dawson, along with Wootton Bassett's David Snell, collected the Ivor Rose Bowl.
And in the men's pairs, Boscombe Cliff stalwarts Michael Hutley and Chris Daniels picked up the Ernest Dean Challenge Cup with a convincing win over Adrian and Gareth Burbridge.
Meanwhile, the run of Bournemouth's Sue Speight and Pelhams' Jean Perry were brought to an end in the ladies' pairs semi-finals at Moordown, Essex girls Doris Cuin and Janice Brewster progressing to the final.
Worksop's Jackie Redfern and Margaret Charlesworth left it late to secure their final berth, seeing off the challenge of Westlecot's Julia Eatwell and Redhill's Pat Horgan.
Redfern and Charlesworth, however, had no such issues in the final, winning convincingly 27-11.
Moordown's Kim Tavener crashed out in the semi-finals of the ladies' singles, as Pat Bourne of Purley Bury progressed to the final.
And Bourne made no mistake in the final, storming to the title despite the challenge of 2005 champion Charlesworth.
Other results, under-25s: Andrew Walters (Broadway Worcester) beat Chris Wright (Dinas Powis) 21-18.
